Warner Retiring From Security
LOS ANGELES - Richard A. Warner, executive vice president of public affairs for Security Pacific Corp., is taking early retirement, bank executives confirmed Friday.
A tough, hot-tempered executive, Mr. Warner, 55, had rocky relations with many members of the press and with some executives of Security Pacific.
Mr. Warner said that he was under no pressure to leave and that the transition has been planned for about two years. He said his father, two brothers, and a sister all retired at 55. "I'm going to stop and smell the flowers, walk on the beach," he said.
Mr. Warner, who joined Security Pacific in 1978, was responsible for press relations, financial communications, employee communications, government relations, and cultural affairs.
A replacement has not yet been named.
