Hires, Promotions at Senate Banking

The Senate Banking Committee announced several additions to its staff and a few promotions Wednesday, including Drey Samuelson as senior adviser and Charles Yi as chief counsel and deputy staff director.

Samuelson will continue to serve as Johnson's chief of staff, a job he began 24 years ago when Johnson was elected to the House. He also spent three years working for then-Rep. Tom Daschle.

Yi returns to the Hill after working as deputy assistant secretary for banking and finance at the Treasury Department. He previously worked on the Banking Committee for then-Chairman Chris Dodd and for the House Financial Services Committee for then-Chairman Barney Frank.

Marc Jarsulic has returned to the committee to serve as chief economist. He previously served as chief economist of the Senate Banking Committee and as chief economist and deputy staff director of the Joint Economic Committee.

Laura Swanson has been appointed the committee's new policy director. She comes to the committee from Johnson's Senate office, where she had worked since January 2005, and recently was his lead banking committee staffer.

Also joining the committee are Jeff Siegel as senior counsel, to work on oversight of derivatives issues and implementation of the Volcker rule; Erin Barry as a professional staff member, working on housing issues; Glen Sears as a senior policy adviser focusing on oversight efforts.

Two current committee members also received promotions: Catherine Galicia was named senior counsel on consumer protection issues and the implementation of the consumer financial protection provisions of the Dodd-Frank Act, and Lynsey Graham was named a senior counsel.
