"Tuition costs continue to rise," said Paul Trylko, president of the former IBM employees credit union. "And when you compound that with the challenging economic times we're facing, paying for college can be extremely difficult. We created the Amplify Austin contest as a way to help three Austin-area families with this significant investment."

To enter “Amplify Austin” college students must submit a video or an essay that says or shows why they should win. Contestants must post their videos on YouTube and include the Amplify website URL (www.goamplify.com) in their video description. Maximum video length is two minutes. The video must include a reference to Amplify, and must explain why the contestant is the most worthy to win.

Extra points will be given for creativity, music, choreography, style and use of the Amplify logo.

Winners will be announced at the grand opening of the new Amplify downtown branch, scheduled for July 2010.

In addition to the $7,500 grand prize, a second prize of $1,000 and third prize of $500 will be awarded. Judges include Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell and KEYE-TV news anchor Ron Oliveira.

This is the first in a series of Amplify Austin video contests. The next contest will be announced at the grand opening of the new Amplify downtown location this summer.
