DUBUQUE, Iowa-Dupaco Community Credit Union here is featuring its own members on billboards as part of a campaign that also has a strong social media component. Dupaco's "member thank you campaign" is utilizing Foursquare, a free app for mobile devices that uses satellite GPS to allow users to "check in" while at retail establishments, service organizations, public spaces and other locations. In exchange for their check in, users receive special offers served up by participating businesses or organizations.
Dupaco members who check in from a Dupaco branch are eligible to win prizes ranging from gift certificates to Dupaco business partners to registration for weekly $50 gas card drawings to an opportunity to be featured on digital billboards.
"When people check in to Dupaco, their Foursquare friends know they're here," said Jennifer Hanniford, AVP-interactive marketing. "They can tip off the Foursquare community about their experience. It's a genuine tool for user-generated reviews on venues."
Promotion for the campaign also includes Facebook and Twitter, along with billboards.
