LIVONIA, Mich.-Co-op Services CU held six gas giveaway events over the past two months in partnership with gas stations located near a credit union branch, each time offering gas discounted by 25 cents a gallon to neighborhood drivers.

The "Fuel Your Dreams Gas Giveaway" events attracted drivers who were happy to save extra dollars at the pump, boosting the credit union's profile in the community, while helping drivers.
Credit union officials said it also helped drive new membership, with some of the motorists opting to join up at the pump.
Another gas giveaway was planned for the very next day. Each of the events cost the credit union about $1,000.
