FORT WORTH, Texas – A sheriff’s deputy was seriously injured and hospitalized after his throat was slashed during a robbery of a branch of Fort Worth Community Credit Union here over the weekend.
The deputy, Fredrick Bauer, 58, was off duty and working as a security officer at the credit union when he approached the suspect after the robbery in the credit union’s parking lot. During the attack Bauer was able to fire a shot into the suspect, who was hit in the head. The suspect was hospitalized and listed in good condition. Bauer was treated and has since been released from the hospital.
Police said a second suspect escaped, but only after Bauer shot out the windows of the getaway car.
