Financial Services Panel Is Beginning To Takes Shape
Two of the panels are set; the subcommittees on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises, which credit union champion Paul Kanjorski, of Pennsylvania, will head; and the subcommittee on Housing and Community Opportunity, which will be chaired by Maxine Waters, of California.
Carolyn Maloney, of New York, another strong credit union ally, is expected to become chair of the subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit, which would debate the CU Regulatory Improvements Act, or CURIA.
Louis Gutierrez, of Illinois, is expected to head the subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. And Mel Watt, of North Carolina, is expected to become chair of the subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade and Technology.
All of the five are considered credit union friends who have spoken on behalf of and voted in favor of credit union interests.
