NAPERVILLE, Ill. - (04/25/06) The Midwest Association of CU,one of the last remaining non-CUNA-affiliated state tradeassociations, is no more. The group, which once counted almost 200credit unions among its membership and boasted an independentlobbying operation, said Monday it will add its 59 remainingmembers to the Illinois CU League, bringing the CUNA-affiliatedleagues membership to 430 credit unions. Both tradeassociations have been exploring a combination for some time, withMACUs membership voting in December of 2005 in favor of sucha merger, which is to be completed May 1. Joni Senkpeil, CEO ofMACU, will join the Illinois league on May 1 as its Director ofSmall CU Development.
