Future Home Sales Index Jumps

WASHINGTON–The National Association of Realtors is reporting that an indicator of future home sales jumped 7.3% in November, its highest level in 19 months. That increase follows a 10.5% increase in the pending sales index for October.

The pending sales index is based in signed contracts, however, the NAR cautions it is not necessarily an indicator of actual sales that will close. The NAR is forecasting that existing home sales will total 4.45 million in 2012, up 4.7% from 4.25 million this year.
