WATERTOWN, Conn. Greater Watertown FCU has hired John Klimas, vice president of lending at STCU CU in Springfield, Mass., as president and CEO of the $20-million credit union.
Klimas, 57, who brings 36 years of experience in the financial services industry to the job, succeeds Thomas O’Neil, who resigned as CEO last year.
Klimas has held a number of senior management positions at credit unions across Connecticut, including manager of consumer loans at American Eagle FCU in East Hartford.
The credit union was chartered in 1935 as Watertown Manufacturing Employees FCU. It recently expanded to a community charter serving the towns of Watertown, Bethlehem, Middlebury, Morris, Thomaston, Waterbury and Woodbury.
