SALT LAKE CITY – Deseret First Credit Union, here, has tapped Clinton R. Gurney to replace Kris J. Mecham as CEO at the $499-million CU.
Mecham is leaving his post at Deseret and as chairman of CUNA to serve as president of the Mongolia Ulaanbaatar mission of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints.
Gurney comes to Deseret after having retired from a 27-year tenure with the LDS Church, where he held positions as worldwide director of Treasury Services, financial controller and managing director of finance. Prior to his work at the church, Gurney had several financial positions at Eli Lilly & Co.
