Hanscom Finalizes Merger with Tiny Publishing CU

As its merger with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Employees FCU closed on Oct. 1, Hanscom FCU gained more than 1,000 new members.

The $1.1 billion credit union, which is headquartered in the Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., now serves more than 60,000 in 17 branches internationally, the credit union said in a statement.

As Credit Union Journal reported previously, members of tiny Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Employees FCU approved the merger in July. The announcement that merger has officially been completed came on the heels of the successful integration of the two CU's systems.

The 58-year-old Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Employees FCU held $6.4 million in assets and was based in Wilmington, Mass. The branch located there was slated to remain open until the publishing company shutters its operations there, as planned.
