CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Paradise has its price. The priciest houses in the U.S. can be found in Hawaii, according to new data, while the lowest home prices are in Mississippi.
LendingTree.com has released data showing the average size of a home loan in Hawaii during 2011 was $677,299, which is approximately three times the national average. Hawaii was followed by Washington, D.C. ($393,453), New Jersey ($344,000), and New York ($340,000). California came in ninth in the LendingTree.com data at $310,676.
At the other end of the financing spectrum, Mississippi reported the lowest average home loans at $137,182, followed by Nebraska ($137,515) and Delaware ($140,398). The national average was $222,562
