The $43 million Horizon Community Credit Union merged with the $1.2 billion Fox Communities Credit Union, touting the union as adding significant convenience for its members by expanding from just two locations in Green Bay, Wis., to 17 more offices scattered through the Fox Valley region.
Though such mergers are often seen as a larger credit union gobbling up a much smaller one, this merger was initiated by the smaller entity, according to Horizon President Pat Josephson.
“The reason Horizon approached Fox Communities was based on opportunities for both our members and the Horizon team,” he said, noting that not only will all Horizon staff members be kept on, but there is also an expectation that the merger will help create new jobs, as well, due to expanded service hours. “Having additional offices, products, and services for our membership was vital. It is important that we continue to grow and stay competitive with the ever-changing needs of our members.”
With the merger, Fox Communities Credit Union now has 87,000 members and employs more than 350. The CU’s field of membership includes anyone who lives or works in the counties of Brown, Calumet, Door, Fond du Lac, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, Sheboygan, Waupaca or Winnebago
