HOUSTON – Local credit unions celebrated International CU Day by kicking off a new campaign to attract bank customers angered by growing fees with an advertising promotion called “Nickel-&-Dimed by Fees.”
The ads direct consumers to the “Experience a Houston Credit Union” website, which features a Zip code search engine that helps consumers find a credit union near them and educates non-members on the value of credit unions.
“We have already witnessed big jumps in web traffic on our Experience a Houston Credit Union website,” said Brian Ellis, vice president of marketing and business development for InvesTex CU. “Many consumers are searching for a better alternative to large banks, and our site is there to help them make a smooth transition.”
The campaign is organized by the Houston Chapter of CUs, which is comprised of 107 credit unions.
