BATON ROUGE, La. - (09/07/05) The Louisiana Credit Union League hasset up shop inside Bayou FCU here. Driven from its Harahan, La.,offices by Hurricane Katrina, the league had been operating from aService Center facility here. The LCUL has created a hotline forNew Orleans credit union leaders who have not been in contact tocall at (800) 436-2682, and has been working to coordinate reliefefforts with CUNA, CUNA Mutual Group and various other leagues. Theleague said it has contacted approximately 30 New Orleans areacredit unions to date. NCUA said it has contacted nearly every CUaffected by the storm, and found 23% are fully operational. Thosecredit unions represent 37% of Bayou State members. The agency saidapproximately two-dozen have yet to be contacted.
