SEWARD, Neb. – The 35-year-old manager of H.B.E. CU, which has less than $1 million in assets, was charged by federal prosecutors yesterday with embezzling $661,765 from the tiny credit union.
Chrystal Lankford, who served as manager and treasurer, allegedly issued checks to herself or an accomplice and drew the funds from an account the tiny credit union kept at Union Bank and Trust Company in Lincoln between 2006 and 2011, according to a federal grand jury indictment.
