Mass. CU Marks Its 90th Birthday With Cake For 600

Tom Landry of Athol (left) and Bill Anderson unveil the birthday cake that they and their fellow students at Monty Tech baked for Workers' Credit Union's 90th Birthday Celebration. They both received $250 for creating the winning design. The credit union asked the students in the Culinary Arts Department to create designs that depicted its heritage and service to the community. The cake, the largest ever the school has created, fed more than 600 people The $450-million Workers Credit Union was the sixth CU founded in Massachusetts, beginning its life with a desk in the corner of a local newspaper's office.
