Massachusetts Postal CU Converts To Community Charter

LYNN, Mass. – State regulators have approved the conversion of Massachusetts Postal Employees CU to a community charter serving more than 350,000 residents on the Bay State’s North Shore.

The $18-million credit union, chartered in 1929 and serving postal employees in Essex, Middlesex, Suffolk and Worcester counties, now can serve residents of the surrounding communities of Lynn, Salem, Marblehead, Saugus, Peabody, Beverly, Nahant, Swampscott and Lynnfield, according to the Massachusetts Division of Banking.

The state regulator also approved a request by Worcester Police Department CU to expand its field of membership to serve all police employees in Worcester County in western Massachusetts.
