GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Montana FCU, the state’s ninth-largest credit union, is poised to absorb Community FCU and leap-frog into the position as the third largest.

The combination has been approved by NCUA and is awaiting approval by members of Community FCU. The merger will create a credit union of $120 million serving about 28,000 members.
Wally Berry, CEO of Montana FCU, will head the new entity, and Steven King, president of Community FCU, will be its executive vice president. Community FCU was known until recently as Golden Triangle CU.
