Meritrust CU Hires Texas CU Vet As CEO

WICHITA, Kan. – Meritrust CU said this afternoon it hired James Nastars, the senior vice president of lending and collections at $1.5 billion University FCU, as president and CEO of the $830 million credit union.

Nastars has more than 16 years of experience in credit unions, serving in several senior management roles at the Austin, Texas, credit union, overseeing lending, collections and internal audit since 1996. Nastars takes over Kansas’s biggest credit union on Feb. 18.

Meritrust has been headed on an interim basis since August by Byron Stout, when its CEO Bob Corwin left to become head of Oregon’s Advantis CU. Stout who will return to his role as vice president of human resources.

Meritrust was chartered in 1935 as Wichita Boeing Employees CU.
