ALEXANDRIA, Va. - (01/06/05) -- NCUA said it approved three moreTIPs charters, including one that will help buffer another airlinecredit union from the industry's downturn by allowing it to spreadits wings nationwide. The new charter will allow Continental FCU,of El Segundo, Calif., to compete with the credit unions forAmerican (American Airlines FCU), United (Alliant CU), andNorthwest (Wings FCU) airlines, and a fifth, FAA FCU, across theair transportation industry in the U.S. A fifth airlines creditunion, US Airways FCU (now Clearview FCU) was recently granted oneof the largest community charters, to serve three million people ingreater Pittsburgh, Pa. NCUA also said it approved TIPs (tradewide,industrywide or professionwide) charters for two credit unions toserve the healthcare industries in their local markets: OhioHealthFCU, Columbus, Ohio, and GFH Employees FCU, Glens Falls,N.Y.
