NAFCU's annual conference drew almost 2,000 people to Honolulu, most of whom were volunteers. Most attendees stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and were bused to the convention center, site of the meeting and trade show.
When NAFCU opened its exhibit hall at its annual meeting in Toronto in 2006, Chinese dragon characters helped provide the entertainment. The entertainment when the exhibit hall opened this year in Honolulu? Chinese dragons.
The Beach Boys, who were more beach than boys, provided a one-hour concert for NAFCU attendees.
NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson had to cancel her appearance before the NAFCU meeting due to illness. NCUA Board Members Rodney Hood and Gigi Hyland were on hand (see story, facing page).

NAFCU will hold its 42nd Annual Conference & Exhibition at the San Diego Convention Center, with the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina as the host hotel, July 9-12, 2008.
