PENSACOLA, Fla. – PenAir FCU said yesterday its president and CEO John Davis, Jr., died Sunday at 52.
Davis, who worked in the credit union movement for more than 26 years, may be best remembered for when after Hurricane Katrina he loaded a Ford Excursion owned by the county sheriff with $1.2 million and drove it around the Gulf of Mexico to Keesler FCU in Biloxi, Miss., which had been heavily damaged by the massive storm.
He had been CEO for the past 10 years at PenAir, which he built to $930 million in assets.
