BOYNTON BEACH, Fla.--Police here have concluded that Carol Anne Burger, the former Credit Union Journal reporter who also was affiliated with numerous credit union organizations, committed suicide over the weekend after murdering her former partner.
Boynton Beach police said that Burger, 57, stabbed Jessica Kalish to death in the garage of the home the two women shared and deposited the body into Kalish’ BMW, before driving it to another location. After police contacted Burger about Kalish’s death, Burger shot herself in the backyard of the home.
Police did not release a motive, but local media reports cited stress Burger was feeling over financial issues and the fact Kalish, 57, had met someone new.
In 2007, Kalish played a role at the software company where she was employed in an agreement with Credit Union Journal to offer discounted software to credit union members. In addition to reporting for Credit Union Journal, Burger also reported for Credit Union Times, and did work with NACUSO, NASCUS and other organizations.
