JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Fidelity National Information Services, the rapidly growing outsourcer for credit unions and banks, reported a doubling in earnings to $148 million, or 75 cents a share, compared to the same period last year. The earnings growth was fueled by a 15% rise in revenues, to $1.2 billion for the quarter, and a $58 million after-tax gain on the sale of its Covansys Corp. stock. The company has been involved in a major restructuring, by a merger with Certegy last year, then with the subsequent spin-off from title insurer Fidelity National Title. More recently, it has agreed to acquire cards processor eFunds Corp., and several other smaller firms.
