ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-PSCU, the former PSCU Financial Services, is partnering with the CU Association of New Mexico to offer a reloadable prepaid Visa card for teens, the two groups announced last week.
The "Claim Your Youth" campaign is designed to improve teen budgeting, money management and credit responsibility, and teach financial literacy skills. The card gives parents control and convenience in tracking their teenager's spending, receiving card balances and transaction information via text messages to their phones, and allows them to easily load money on the card any time from a home computer.
"We know teens love financial freedom but need a bit of help staying within boundaries," said Sylvia Lyons, president of the New Mexico League.
The new Visa card program is part of the New Mexico League's "young up" marketing campaign aimed at recruiting youth to credit unions and also includes the Kirby Kangaroo Club for youngsters, CU Succeed Teen Network, and the CU Thru financial literacy online programs.
