The board of directors at Lake Charles, La.-based Southwest Louisiana Credit Union has selected Ronaldo Hardy as the credit union's next president and chief executive officer, effective October 3.
Hardy most recently served as president and CEO of Shell Geismar Federal Credit Union — a $28 million-asset institution based in Gonzales, La. — where he led the credit union for the past five years.
Before that, he served in various capacities at La Capitol Federal Credit Union, a $477 million institution in Baton Rouge, La.
Southwest Louisiana CU has $95 million in assets and serves more than 17,000 members. The credit union’s former CEO Jim Giffin resigned in March 2016. Shelly Flores, controller, has been serving as interim CEO, said Jessica LaRocca, chief innovation officer.
"We couldn't be more excited to welcome Ronaldo as our new president/CEO," said Mike Dronet, chairman of the board, in a statement. "His work in the [credit union] movement locally, statewide and even nationally speaks to his strong leadership and progressive, innovative approach."
Hardy has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and will graduate from Louisiana State University in December with a master's degree in human resource education. He also serves as the founder and chairman of the Louisiana Credit Union League's Young Professionals Network, chairman of CUNA's Young Professionals Committee and is also a member of Filene's Research Council.
