HOUSTON — Two masked men armed with handguns barged into a Chartway FCU branch here Wednesday morning, fired shots into the ceiling, demanded money and then escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The heist happened between 10:30-11:00 a.m. at the West FM 1960 location of CFCU. The Harris County Sheriff's Office stated that one of the suspects jumped onto the counter and fired shots while the other remained in the lobby.
An ambulance was called to the credit union to check on the health of a pregnant employee, but no one was injured. No members were inside the CU during the robbery, according to authorities.
The robbers were described as black males in sweat pants wearing gloves and masks. The suspects, still at large, fled in a Ford truck that was later recovered.
Published reports stated this is the second robbery at the Chartway branch in the last four months. The Houston Federal Bureau of Investigation's bank robbery task force is assisting in the investigation.
