Douglas Samuels, CEO of Space Coast Credit Union, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 12. He was 57 years old.
Samuels joined hte credit union in 191 as VP of information systems and had served as president and CEO since 1997.

Timothy M. Antonition, EVP and chief operations officer of the credit union, was appointed as acting CEO.
Space Coast Credit Union, a $4 billion institution based in Melbourne, Fla., announced that its president and chief executive officer, Douglas Samuels, died suddenly on Friday, May 12, at the age of 57.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Doug Samuels,” Dale Neubert, chairman of Space Coast's board of directors, said in a statement. “He was first and foremost a generous, selfless individual dedicated to his family, as well as an inspiring mission-focused leader, who served the credit union, its employees, and its membership with vision and commitment. He will be greatly missed and we extend our deepest sympathies to his family.”
SCCU has almost 370,000 members and generated net income of $34 million in 2016, after posting net income of $54.6 million in the prior year.
