Space Coast CU Lands In Florida Keys

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Space Coast CU, the state’s second-largest credit union, has applied to state regulators to expand both north – to Martin County – and south – to Monroe County, which covers the 120-mile string of islands south of Miami known as the Keys.

The $3.2 billion credit union currently serves the Florida counties of Brevard, Broward, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Hillsborough, Indian River, Miami-Dade, Nassau, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie, or Volusia, but doesn’t go as far as the Keys. The expanded field of membership would take it all the way to Key West, the southernmost tip of the eastern United States.

Space Coast, located about an hour north of West Palm Beach, doubled its size and expanded throughout the Miami market last year with the merger of failed Eastern Financial Florida CU.
