State Employees’ CU’s $2 Million Grant Helps Build New Critical Care Hospice

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Officials broke ground Tuesday on a $5 million Hospice and Palliative Care Center that will be funded in part by a $2 million grant from State Employees’ CU’s SECU Foundation.

The house will provide temporary lodging for adults who travel to Winston-Salem for medical treatments. Care givers also will be welcomed to stay. The 31,400-square-foot home will have 45 guest rooms with private baths. In addition, there will be common living, dining and kitchen areas as well as laundry facilities, a patio and a chapel.

About 1,000 adult patients and their families are expected to stay at the house each year.
