Teachers CU, Indiana Basketball Teams Aim for Financial Empowerment

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The practice court at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, home to the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever basketball teams here, is getting a new name.

From now on, call it the TCU Court.

The rechristening marks the launch of a new partnership between Pacers Sport & Entertainment, the media company that owns the basketball teams and court, and $2.6 billion Teachers CU. Their goal: to make financial empowerment education widespread amongst local high schools.

The two organizations have agreed to develop a free educative program, at the disposal of area teachers who want to transmit financial planning skills to students.

"Hoosiers are faced with tough money decisions each and every day and they do not readily have access to the tools necessary to help prepare them to make those decisions. We have those tools," said TCU's president and CEO Paul Marsh in a statement.

Pacers forward Rakeem Christmas will serve as an ambassador for the program.
