Texas CUs Roll Out 'Experience A Credit Union' Marketing Campaign

GALVESTON, Texas -- Ongoing, strong membership growth across the country is not keeping the Texas CU League from rolling out new efforts aimed at getting more consumers to leave their banks.

"Membership is the biggest challenge, and we have several initiatives to grow membership," said TCUL President Dick Ensweiler. "One is called 'Experience a Credit Union,' which features local advertising that takes people to a website that gives them information. The league will fund an 'Experience' website for every chapter in Texas."

The league is also continuing to join other state CU leagues in sponsoring Asmarterchoice.org, which seeks to position credit unions as a source of trusted advice on financial issues. "We want people to find us online. That is where they are looking - they are not driving up and down the street looking for a financial institution,” Ensweiler told Credit Union Journal during the league¹s annual meeting here.
