Instead of scribbling a note, the thief handed his cell phone with a robbery demand message to a teller at a branch of the $437 million Point Loma Credit Union on Friday, according to local police.

The robbery occurred just after 5 p.m. The suspect did not show a weapon and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect was described as white, 18 to 22 years old, about 5 feet 8 and 160 pounds with a thin build and short dark hair.
