MOBILE, Ala. -- Two members of the so-called "Hoodies" gang that the FBI cited earlier this year as a major reason for a recent spike in aggressive robberies in the city were sentenced to jail last week for their roles in last April’s armed robbery at Navigator CU.
Daveron King, 21, was sentenced to 7½ years in prison for conspiracy to commit bank robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime; and his cousin, Darryl s Davis, was sentenced to three years and four months for conspiracy. A third man convicted of plotting the hold-up, Timothy King, will be sentenced in January.
The robbers threatened the tellers' lives and made off with $14,505. Driving the getaway car, Davis took all three to Theodore, according to court records.
The FBI said the three men were members in a loosely organized group that agents dubbed the Hoodies because of the clothing they sometimes wore to conceal their identities during robberies. Investigators have said the arrest of the three men in April was key in breaking up the outfit.
