WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The National CU Foundation announced yesterday it has awarded Truliant FCU a $20,000 Innovation Grant to help it fund an entrepreneur education, credit counseling and strategic planning program for five underserved areas in North Carolina and Virginia.

In a pilot funded by Foundation during the first six months of 2008, Truliant has been offering new and existing members a "holistic approach to building financial strength through saving, credit building, account management, and financial education.
Truliant now plans to help establish and mentor more small businesses that will provide needed jobs and services in underserved communities.
The Foundation has awarded 14 Innovation Grants this year for a total of $600,000.
