Virginia CU Hit by Phishing Expedition

RICHMOND, Va. – As many as 25 Virginia CU members have fallen prey to a new phishing scam, responding to a phony email by sending their account information. One of the emails offers $80 for responding to a survey. Clicking the email link takes you to a web site that appears to be the credit union’s, but is a fake. The site ask for personal account information. Another website uses the Virginia CU logo and purports to be raising money for victims of the shooting at Virginia Tech.
