Website 'Spanks' Banks, But Who's Behind The Clever Videos?

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A website featuring several videos that take a playful jab at the banking industry's perceived greed and self-interest is up and running at www.bankerspank.com.

But who's behind the website and the videos had not been determined as the Credit Union Journal was going to press.

The video is a satire of the popular Mac versus PC commercials that have run nationwide, and includes spots titled "I Love You," "Happy To Serve," "Money to Blow" and "Under the Table." The site includes links to the websites of CUNA, NASCUS and the World Council of Credit Unions, but spokespersons for all three organizations said they have no affiliation with the site or knowledge of who is behind it.

The domain name, bankerspank.com, was registered through godaddy.com, which allows anonymous registration of domain names.

Efforts by the Credit Union Journal to contact the operators of the site through an e-mail address that is part of the site were not successful at presstime. (c) 2007 The Credit Union Journal and SourceMedia, Inc. All Rights Reserved. http://www.cujournal.com http://www.sourcemedia.com
