Call For Wegner Award Nominations
WASHINGTON --The National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) is now accepting nominations for individuals and organizations for its 2011 Annual Herb Wegner Memorial Awards. 3 Honored By CUNA Marketing Council
WASHINGTON-The CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council has honored three people for their achievements. Recognized were:
* Joe Hearn, COO for Dupaco Community CU, Dubuque, Iowa as the 2010 Hall of Fame inductee. Since joining Dupaco in 1985, Hearn has overseen growth to $826 million in assets from $55 million. Hearn was also a co-founder of the CMBDC and served on the executive committee and numerous other CMBDC committees for many years.
* Kellie Terhune-Neely, VP for Hughes FCU, Tucson, Ariz. won the Marketing Professional of the Year Award. Terhune-Neely has helped oversee growth to $458-million in assets from $53-million, and in addition to marketing is also responsible for sales and training. Terhune-Neely is very active with her state league and in political advocacy.
* Sandi Carangi, VP-business development for Erie FCU in Erie, Penn., won the Business Development Professional of the Year Award. Despite company closings, more layoffs and the highest poverty rate of any city in the state, Carangi helped the CU see 4.9% membership growth in 2008 and 9.86% growth in 2009.
NCUA Issues Prohibition Orders
ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA has issued prohibition orders against:
* Margaret S. Aldridge, a former employee of Coastal Waters FCU, Mobile, Ala., without admitting or denying fault, signed an order of prohibition to avoid the time and cost of administrative litigation.
* David Wayne Gleason, a former employee of Mid-Tex FCU, Brownwood, Texas, without admitting or denying fault, signed an order of prohibition to avoid the time and cost of administrative litigation.
* Mandi Nicole Shook, a former employee of TexDot - WF CU, Wichita Falls, Texas, was convicted of embezzlement and sentenced to 12 months and a day imprisonment, five years supervised release, and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $195,173.

Hawthorne CU Adds Gen Y Advisory Group
NAPERVILLE, Ill.-A group of local Gen Yers have been charged with the task to teach Hawthorne CU here what they want from a financial institution. The Student Advisory Committee is made up of 16 people between the ages of 18 and 29 will discuss how CUs can appeal to their generation through targeted programs and appealing communication channels.
