Gray To Succeed Retiring DeGroodt

ST. LOUIS-The $1.2-billion Missouri Corporate CU said that Dennis DeGroodt will retire as CEO on July 31 and will be succeeded by CFO Kathleen "Kitty" Gray. DeGroodt has been CEO since 1997 and has been in CUs for 25 years, including as president of Wetterau Employees CU.

Five Kansans Are Honored

WICHITA, Kan.-The Kansas Credit CU Association has honored five CU leaders: Karen Hamit, CEO of Credit Union of Dodge City, who received the Henry Peterson Professional of the Year Award; Jim Peebler, supervisory committee chair at TECU CU in Wichita, who received the John Michener Volunteer of the Year award; Gary Winkler, former co-president of Quest CU in Topeka, who was inducted into the KCUA Hall of Fame, and Jane Hammil, chief administrative officer with Credit Union of America in Wichita, who received the Political Involvement Award.

Michlig Named CEO of NJ League

HIGHTSTOWN, N.J.-Greg Michlig has been named the new president of the New Jersey CU League. Michlig has worked in credit unions since 1995, having worked for both CUES and Pemco Technology Services.

CU For Kids, Website Partner

BISMARCK, N.D.-CU Social Good, the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas website, has teamed up with Credit Unions for Kids by linking their organization to the website and posting CU4Kids stories about the fundraising activities CUs do for their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital. NCPCU Elects Exec Committee

DEL MAR, Calif.-Kevin Yaeger, CEO of Post Office Credit Union in Madison, Wis., has been elected chairman of the National Council of Postal CUs. Other members of the exec committee include: Vice Chair, Rebecca Cuddy of NAPUS FCU; Secretary, Neil Crean of Massachusetts Family CU, and Treasurer, Sidney Parfait of Post Office Employees CU.

New CEOs Are Named; Beer Retires

PHILADELPHIA-Sb1 FCU, the former SmithKline employees' CU, has named Robert Werner as its new CEO. Werner was previously COO at Two River Community Bank in Middletown, N.J. Werner succeeds Tom Swierzy, who is retiring in July after serving 31 years as CEO of Sb1. In Titusville, Penn., CEO Marilyn Beer has retired after 36 years with Oil Country FCU. In Traverse City, Mich., Andrew Kempf has been named CEO of Preferred FCU.

9 People Earn 1st-Ever CUCME

MADISON, Wis.-Nine people have have become the first to earn the new Credit Union Certified Marketing Executive (CUCME) designation from CUNA. The new designation can be earned by attending all three years of CUNA Marketing Management School curriculum, and successfully passing an exam at the end of each year. The first-ever CUCME designees are Michelle Broderick of Cumberland County FCU; Matt Brophy of Seven Seventeen CU; Janet Buckalew of Pacific Crest FCU; Maria Johnson of Collins Community CU; Andrea Lepper of Superior Choice CU; Angela Meehan of Park Side FCU; Karen Owens of First CU; Kathy Palumbo of Capital Educators FCU, and Lynn Roth of DuTrac Community CU.
