Tournament To Raise Funds For Victims
DALLAS-A golf tournament is being organized here to help raise funds for CU employees whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Ike. Sponsored by the Texas league, Southwest Corporate and the Harmon Killebrew Foundation, it is set for Nov. 18 at the Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine, Texas, and will include celebrity athletes, among them baseball Hall of Fame legend Harmon Killebrew. Other sponsors include US Central, Co-op Financial Services, Bluepoint Solutions, Pulse and American Share Insurance. To date the Texas Credit Union Foundation has provided nearly 900 grants, totaling over $469,000 to individuals who work for credit unions in the affected areas.

Southeast Corporate Draws Crowds To Forum
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-Southeast Corporate said it had record-breaking attendance at its series of eight day-long Fall Forums held across Florida, Mississippi and Alabama.
The morning portion of the forums focused on investments and ALM and the afternoon delved into various aspects of payment systems and how that sector is evolving. During lunch at the forums management staff from the corporate did a special presentation about Southeast's financial health. The regional forum series replaced the corporate's annual conference.
NCUA Updates Share Insurance Calculator
ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA has updated the share insurance estimator on its website, which allows members of NCUSIF-insured credit unions to estimate their coverage. The estimator, known as the Electronic Share Insurance Calculator (E-SIC), bases computations on the rules in effect as of Oct. 3, 2008. It can be found at http://webapps.ncua.gov/ins/ontaints.
Stewart Recognized As Distinguished Alum
LOS ANGELES-Carl E. Stewart, CEO of Water and Power Community Credit Union, was named the 2008 Cavalier Immortal life achievement award recipient for Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, Calif. Stewart, a 1971 alumnus of Junipero Serra High School, was recognized for his dedication to the support and development of not-for-profit credit unions and improving financial literacy among youth.
American First VP Is Killed In Accident
LA HABRA, Calif.-American First Credit Union is mourning the loss of Vice President of Human Resources Catherine Busse, who passed away last week after injuries from a bicycle accident in Seal Beach, Calif.
Busse and her 14-year-old son were struck by a truck while riding their bicycles. Her son, Sam, was released with minor cuts a bruises, but Busse later died from her injuries.
