Eighteen credit unions and business partners representing the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions participated in the Chapter's annual Bowling Tournament at Copperfield Bowl in Houston, raising more than $6,000 for children's charities.
MSU Federal Credit Union, East Lansing, Mich., joined the University Club of MSU and the Capital Region Community Foundation in support of local organizations by sponsoring the Big Bang-quet Community Charity Challenge. The event raised more than $80,000 for 24 local charities.
Members First Credit Union, Manchester, N.H., helps promote Manchester's 19th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade by painting a shamrock on Elm Street. The shamrock signifies the end of the parade route.

NuMark CU, Joliet, Ill., trained five Rockdale Elementary School 7th graders to become the next batch of student tellers for its state sponsored Bank at School program. Rockdale students Trenton Olson, Nicole Sadler, Hailey Pierce, Giselle Torres, and Priscilla Nunez were chosen by Rockdale's Principal Hafner to attend the event.
Lacamas Community CU, Camas, Wash., donated $500 to the Cape Horn-Skye Elementary School Booster Club in Washougal to sponsor Booster Club activities.
Erik Smith, a military veteran from Riverside, Calif., won $500 from Altura CU for using his Altura Visa Debit Card as part of Altura's "Better Ways to Win" promotion, which highlights the convenience of using Altura's debit card for everyday purchases.

Affinity Group CU, Pontiac, Mich., spent March promoting reading by giving free books to any child that came into one of the credit union's six branches.
Team St. Anne represents St. Anne's CU, Fall River, Mass., in the sixth annual "Miles for SMILES" walk/run/bike/skate-athon held at UMass Dartmouth. The SouthCoast Mentoring Initiative for Learning, Education and Service (SMILES) helps at-risk children realize their personal and educational potential through a large scale one-to-one mentoring program. In addition to St. Anne's being a SMILES Sponsor for the walk, St. Anne's employees raised more than $300.
St. Anne's CU, Fall River, Mass., encouraged staff to "Go Green for Greene," donating $3 to dress down on St. Patrick's Day. The effort raised nearly $400 for William S. Greene Elementary School.
People's CU commended students at the Exeter Job Corps Academy for their commitment to financial literacy. Courtney Hunter, People's sales and marketing manager, is pictured with a number of students.
Monmouth FCU, Monmouth, Maine, presented four checks for more than $800 to local food pantries at the CU's 60th annual meeting.
AMOCO FCU, Texas City, Texas, held its Select Partner Appreciation luncheon for its select employee groups.
TBA CU, Traverse City, Mich., awarded a Classroom Improvement Grant to Cherry Knoll Elementary School for $600. Separately, the CU opened a new student-run branch at West Middle School.
St. Mary's Bank, Manchester, N.H., working in tandem with WOCCU, hosted a delegation of international leaders including visitors from Albania, Azerbaijan, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Russia and Serbia.
State Employees CU, Raleigh, N.C., has contracted with Lenovo to purchase 8,000 energy-efficient PCs to replace existing units in its network of 253 branches and five operations centers. The CU selected Lenovo because the units will be assembled at the firms operations facility in Whitsett, N.C.
The Indiana CU League collected shoes and funds at its recent convention and donated the equivalent of 1,345 pairs of shoes for Samaritan's Feet.
NESC FCU, Methuen, Mass., participated in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Lawrence, Mass.
Polish & Slavic FCU, Brooklyn, N.Y., teamed up with the American-Italian Cancer Foundation to offer free breast cancer screenings to women over 40 in Queens and Brooklyn. More than 100 women took advantage of the offer.
Pelican State CU, Baton Rouge, La., gave members a chance to snag some cash in a money booth, ultimately giving away more than $2,000 to 108 members during the CU's cele
OnPoint Community CU, Portland, Ore., sponsored the 15th Annual Oregon Winterfest, which raised $8,000 for Saving Grace.
American 1 CU, Jackson, Mich., held its annual Women's Expo.
NEFCU, Westbury, N.Y., has been recognized for its CUshine.org website that is aimed at raising financial literacy of teens and young adults. The CU won "Best Website" in NAFCU's 2014 Marketing Awards. In other news, the CU has relocated its LIU Post branch to the Green Cove Shopping Center in Greenvale.
