Heritage Trust FCU, Summerville, S.C., unveiled the greater Charleston areas first two student-run high school branches, located inside Goose Creek and Summerville high schools. The branches are staffed by students participating in business track or career academy programs.
Horizon Community CU, Green Bay, Wis., collected $1,572.52 in donations from members and business partners for its 2015 Tools 4 Schools campaign. The donations were used to purchase school supplies, which then were donated to local schools.
In Orlando, Fla., Insight CUs 2nd annual Back to School Supply Drive saw members and employees donate thousands of school supplies for Central Florida students in need.
For the second year in a row, Montgomery-based MAX was named one of the Best Companies to Work for in Alabama, an annual program created by Business Alabama and Best Companies Group.
Robins FCU, Warner Robins, Ga., made a $4,000 donation to Georgia Military College to award a student a 4-year scholarship. Abbygail Campbell was selected as the recipient.
The Richard Myles Johnson (RMJ) Foundation/CUNA Mutual Golf Tournament, held at the Newport Beach Country Club in Newport Beach, Calif., raised nearly $60,000 for the state foundation for credit unions in California and Nevada.
RTN FCU, Waltham, Mass., awarded a total of $10,000 to the three 2015 recipients of its James A. Burley, Jr. Scholarship, college-bound students whose parents are RTN members.
Quincy CU, Quincy, Mass., helped sponsor the second-annual Pizza Palooza, raising $6,000 for the Weymouth Food Pantry.
Pen Air FCU, Pensacola, Fla., presented the Association for Retarded Citizens of Baldwin County, Alabama with a check for $4,000 from funds raised through employee Jeans for Generosity fund raising days and other fundraising efforts.
State Employees CU, Raleigh, N.C., once again is teaming up with NC GreenPower to help expand the development of renewable energy sources through the Solar Schools project. Over the next two years, the SECU Foundation will provide a total investment of up to $140,000.
