TopLine FCU, Maple Grove, Minn., teamed up with Rockford High School to provide students with a glimpse of what the career world is all about. A TopLine employee shared her story relating to education and career paths, position responsibilities, daily tasks, examples of projects, additional training, keys to success and how CUs differ from banks.

The Care for Kids campaign

The Care for Kids campaign by TCT FCU, Ballston Spa, N.Y., raised a total of $2,000 to benefit pediatric healthcare at two hospitals in its service area of Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties. Glens Falls Hospital and Saratoga Hospital each received a check for $1,000 and a supply of stuffed animals to be given to children, to help calm and comfort them.

Supporting heart health

Dover FCU, Dover, Del., gave $15,000 to the Southern Delaware Chapter of the American Heart Association. The donation will be used to support event initiatives that will expand awareness and raise additional funds that will support heart health in local communities.

Cancer foundation donation

U.S. Eagle FCU, Albuquerque, N.M., delivered a check for $1,357.65 to the Cancer Foundation of New Mexico after employees hosted bake sales at their branches.

Alaska USA expands

Anchorage-based Alaska USA FCU opened a new branch in Scottsdale, Ariz., inside a Safeway grocery store. It is Alaska USA’s first branch in Scottsdale and its eighth in Arizona. Separately, the CU’s annual grant program donated a total of $60,250, benefiting 73 nonprofit organizations throughout the four regions it serves, including Arizona.

Coming soon: A new branch

Hopewell FCU, Heath, Ohio, purchased land in Johnstown, Ohio, and is slated to open its newest branch there later this year. The building will be constructed by the team at Mark Caughenbaugh Construction, LLC and Phil Claggett, Ohio Architect with Northpoint Ohio Architecture.

Phase one of renovation complete

Holy Rosary CU, Rochester, N.H., has completed the first phase of the renovation project on its Dover, N.H., branch – an enhanced lobby. The two-stage renovation of the Dover branch is designed to bring a higher level of customer service and technology to HRCU members. The second phase of the project was scheduled to be completed this spring.

In Hilliard, Ohio, Credit Union of Ohio’s new community space at its headquarters hosted more than a dozen workshops in the last year, including seven of its popular homebuyer workshops (up from three workshops the previous year).

Allegacy FCU, Winston-Salem, N.C., partnered with the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA D-League for a theme jersey night and auction, with funds and awareness benefiting Susan G. Komen Northwest North Carolina. The organizations raised $4,029 from attendees at the game.

Connex CU, North Haven, Conn., donated 45,018 diapers to the New Haven Diaper Bank, shattering the previous record for largest single contribution – 16,354 – also by Connex.

Honoring a CEO's years of service

The board of directors of Altura CU honored CEO Mark Hawkins for his 29 years of service by renaming the CU’s headquarters in Riverside, Calif., the “Mark W. Hawkins Operations Center.” The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Hawkins’ last day as CEO.

Peoria, Ill.-based CEFCU opened a new Member Center in Bloomington, Ill., that has staff ready to process loans, conduct account transactions, and assist members and business members with all their financial needs. Two Fast Track Teller Machines are located in the Member Center vestibule and are available to members 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
