Axa Equitable Life Insurance Co., a New York unit of Axa Group, announced that it had promoted Claude Methot to senior vice president and chief product officer.

He reports to Christopher "Kip" Condron, Axa Equitable's chairman and chief executive officer, who made the announcement Thursday.
Mr. Methot is to oversee life insurance and annuity product design for Axa Equitable. He was a senior vice president in the parent Axa Group's marketing arm and has worked at Axa since 1999.
Axa Equitable had more than 11,000 employees and salespeople and about 4.8 million policy/contract holders nationally at Dec. 31.
