B of A Hires Twelve for Merrill

Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management, a unit of Bank of America Corp., has hired eight financial advisers from Citigroup Inc.'s Smith Barney unit and added brokers from UBS AG and Wells Fargo & Co.

On April 30, Victor Barrionuevo and Roman Reed joined Merrill Lynch's Houston Galleria office from UBS. The team managed $168 million of client assets.

In Santa Barbara, Calif., Merrill added Bruce Micheel and Marc Gamberdella from Smith Barney. The two managed $250 million. William Boykin, Robin Smith and Matthew Margolies joined Merrill's Towson, Md., office from Smith Barney. The three had $214 million under management.

In Santa Fe, N.M., Jeff Sweers left Smith Barney for Merrill. He managed $127 million of assets. Merrill also added Smith Barney advisers Jonathan Markoe and Mark Finelli. They had $100 million of client assets under management.

David Harris and Christopher Buccheri came to Merrill's Bel Air, Md., office from Wells Fargo's adviser unit, formerly known as Wachovia Securities. The team had $151 million under management.
