B of A Unit Hires Economist

Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Research announced that it has hired Michael Hanson as a senior U.S. economist.

Hanson will assist in the development of the Bank of America Corp. unit's U.S. economic view including thematic ideas and statistical models.

He will report to Ethan Harris, head of North America economics at Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Research. Hanson was an economist for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. He has also been a senior economist at Lehman Brothers and a professor of economics at Wesleyan University. Harris said in a press release Tuesday that Hanson's "decade-long experience in the markets, academia and the Federal Reserve System, analyzing macroeconomic and monetary policy issues will be extremely beneficial to our clients."

Drew Matus will continue in his role as a senior U.S. economist at Banc of America Securities-Merrill Lynch Research and will continue writing the Fed and bond market forecasts as well as reports on the Treasury and fiscal policy.
