Baird Hires for S.F. Wealth Office

Robert W. Baird & Co., a Milwaukee wealth manager, said it has hired Paula Johnson as a senior vice president.

Ms. Johnson is to oversee recruiting of financial advisers to establish the company's first wealth management office in San Francisco, the company said on Wednesday. She will also manage the planned branch.

Ms. Johnson was a vice president and branch manager at Wachovia Securities and its legacy firm A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. in San Francisco. Before joining A.G. Edwards in 2005, she worked for Quick & Reilly/FleetBoston.

Baird said that it plans to add offices in Northern California to the three it already has in the region — equity capital markets offices in San Francisco and Palo Alto and a wealth management office in Sacramento. It also said it would open additional wealth management offices in the region.

Baird's private wealth management business has added financial advisers in the past year in Sacramento; Minnetonka, Minn.; and Phoenix. It had $49 billion of assets under management at Sept. 30.
