Bank of New York Mellon Corp. was the No. 1 trustee in the United States last year, according to data from Thomson Reuters.
The company served as trustee on 1,656 new issues, or about 45% more than its closest competitor, according to the data, which Bank of New York Mellon released Monday. These issues generated over $529 billion of proceeds, or more than three times the amount serviced by another U.S. trustee.
The ranking reflects lead positions in all U.S. debt segments, including long-term municipal, high-yield, investment grade, convertible, collateralized debt obligations and structured finance.
Its corporate trust business services more than $11 trillion of outstanding debt. It services all major debt categories, including corporate and municipal debt, mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities, collateralized debt obligations, derivative securities and international debt offerings.
BNY Mellon had $20.2 trillion of assets under custody and administration as of Dec. 31.
